Another great turnout today for the club competitions, which are included towards the points for the Championship Shield.
The Bobber and Surrenden used to be included in the Bisley courses but seem to be waning in their popularity.
Today we amended the courses of fire due to adverse weather, but basically kept the principles of the competitions.
The Bobber: shot from 15 metres, five exposures of two seconds, five seconds away time, one shot per exposure on a DP2 target. This is repeated, so total of ten shots.
Surrenden. Shot against the “clock”/shotimer. On the buzzer, shooter fires five rounds into a precision round target from 20 metres. Done twice, so total of ten rounds. Total score minus time taken gave the final score.
Competitors must decide if to shoot fast and risk lower score, or slowly and get higher score, or feeling lucky and shoot fast and get high score! As you can see, lots of us got caught out, but overall centrefire winner was Neil Donaldson who took his time and got a fantastic score on target, and that was with a borrowed rifle from Phil! Neil was recently refused a centrefire licence but I hope that he will now make another (successful) request from the authorities.
