Four members of JSPC ( Leslie Kong, Stuart Russell, Bill Pow and Doug Green) travelled to Derby to attend the Open which also celebrated their club’s 50th anniversary.
Competitors had a busy time of it: 43,850 shots fired, over 950 scorecards, and 2700 targets used.
Jim Smith and his team certainly pulled out all the stops to provide a weekend full of competitions and prizes, thanks to the generosity of the Derby Club and to their sponsors.
Here are a few words from Jim Smith to the competitors:
The Derby Open 2019 was not a record breaker but there were 106 competitors and over 950 events shot. It was fantastic to see 14 new faces, some completely new to the competition circuit.
With it being our 50th anniversary we increased the budget for the prize table and I think you will agree that it was excellent with numerous high value prizes to be chosen. This was also due to the extraordinary support from the ten sponsors who supported the meeting. It is worth mentioning them by name as they deserve our thanks and having confidence in our sport. Please support them in return.

It was a truly wonderful weekend for competitors, with a great variety of competitions from which to choose. The prize table was extremely generous, and with all events being classified, it meant that everyone stood a chance at a prize.
In addition, there was a raffle, and furthermore, every competitor was entered into a “tombola draw” with yet another wide selection of goodies for lucky winners to take home, including two of £50 banknotes to celebrate the 50th anniversary.
