PHOENIX MEETING 2011 BISLEY

Seventeen members of the Scottish Gallery Rifle Squad attended the Phoenix Meeting at Bisley. This meant that we were able to enter three Scottish Teams: Blue, White and Purple. With each member appearing in at least one team. In all the members took part in 189 individual entries ranging from Small-Bore Precision to Muzzle-Loading Revolver. Two clubs also entered their own teams: Aberdeen Full-Bore and Joint Services, the members of which are also squad members. The Most Sensational News is that our Blue Team won the International Centre-Fire Match beating seven teams from England, Germany, Republic of Ireland and South Africa.
The winning team comprised: Charles Bestwick, Greg Rastall, Jonathon Cormie, Christopher McLean and Glenn Gordon
This is the first time that England has been beaten in this match!

Scotland also came second in the Small -Bore Match Losing to England by Only One Point.
John Crouch, Jonathon Cormle, Alan Convery, Greg Rastall and Christopher McLean.

The other Scottish teams White and Purple also acquitted themselves well.

Two Scottish Clubs Entered for the Team Events; Aberdeen Full Bore Gun Club entered three teams while Joint Services Pistol Club entered two. These stunning results confirm that Scotland is now a leading player in the international field of Gallery Rifle Competition. The next test is the Home Countries Championship in August.
