Jack Cruickshank Trophy 2016

What a glorious summer’s day at last, having withstood all the winter with thermal underwear and fuelled hand warmers.

The usual suspects attended this important day in the club’s shooting calender which celebrates one of the founder members of the club and past chairman Jack Cruickshank. Jack was fundamental in setting up the club as a competitive force and in the progress of establishing the present range facilities.

The trophy is awarded each year to the member with the highest aggregate of TP1 and MT Centrefire. Jack would have preferred us to use 1911s in 45 calibre, but the unwise government of 1997 decided otherwise.

Norman has won the trophy and retained it for some years now so there was great determination in the competition.

We also performed the competitions in smallbore, but the JC trophy was won by Chris Douglas with a very decisive lead.

Many congratulations to Chris, who sadly was unable to attend Phoenix 2016 at Bisley last weekend, so this must have come as a welcome prize.
