AUTUMN ACTION WEEKEND, BISLEY, OCTOBER 2014.
The NRA reports the Autumn Action Weekend produced a record number of cards shot and the second highest number of competitors to the event – 177 competitors (+34% on 2013), 1,028 cards shot (45% increase vs 2013).
Three members of JSPC travelled down to Bisley for the last of the 2014 GR events at Bisley.
The weather was kind to us, mild and no rain, a big plus at this time of the year..
Competitions, as usual, covered all types of guns including LBP, LBR, Lever release, Lever action and semi auto SB rifle.
We met with the usual crowd though notable absentees were Aberdeen and Dundee competitors (apart from Mike H) which gave us an added impetus to bring home some medals to Scotland.
Colin and Brian had attended the Trafalgar meeting just the previous weekend, with Colin shooting extremely well and bringing home several gold medals and trophies. Full results can be viewed on www.galleryrifle.com. Well done Colin, a fine example to the club of determination and skill.
Having entered as many competitions as I could cram into two days, I did not take my camera so I begged others for photos to liven up the report. Thanks to Angie, Caron, and Neil Francis for their contributions.
Norman V performed to his usual high standard, (though disappointed that he did not do as well as he thought he could, as with us all!) and won more than a handful of Gold medals (seven at the last count). Final results are now available on www.galleryrifle.com
Bill P won his very first Bisley Gold medal in Surrenden CF, congratulations are due. Many more will follow I am sure.
Leslie won one gold and one silver with the LBP so practice has paid off (and only a few competitors) though there is always some room for improvement!
Mike H from Dundee won Phoenix A SB in X class, a fantastic achievement. Well done Mike.
JSPC members are mainly A and X class so any medal is a great challenge.
We do hope that more members will find the funds and time to arrange at least one trip to Bisley in 2015. At the Phoenix in May, we hope to enter many members in the JSPC teams to compete against Aberdeen and Dundee clubs (and others).
JSPC will be hosting at least four ranked events in 2015, so it will not be necessary for Scottish shooters to travel to England to meet the minimum requirements for UK ranking.
