JSPC Spring Open 2026 attracted competitors from all UK, with England Gallery Rifle Squad travelling up to enjoy some Scottish hospitality and engaging with Scotalnd in “friendly inter nations matches”, restricted due to lack of required numbers of team shooters.
Spring weather was fairly kind over the weekend with some chilly wind accompanied by some sunshine.
JSPC member Alan Mitchell provided well earned Scottish cuisine for staff and competitors, with bacon, black pudding, lorne sausage, sausages (with added cheese for those so wishing). If that was not enough, Scotch pies and chicken curry pies, crisps, biscuits and soft drinks, tea and coffee were available.
Thanks to the members who assisted as range crew, notably Stuart Russell, Dave Nicoll, Ian Burton, Chris Douglas, Bill Pow, Charles Whyte, and Doug Green.
“Competitor scoring” helped the event to run smoothly and the timetable was shortened as the days passed. Thanks to competitors, some of whom also helped with targets and clearing the range.
RESULTS:
Ian had the results available within 10 minutes of the final shot!
Scotland took all the glory by beating England in all three events:
